The New Mexico School for the arts
Breaks Ground
March 16, 2018 – Studio Southwest Architects, in association with Lake | Flato Architects, broke ground on the highly anticipated New Mexico School for the Arts (NMSA) campus renovation on Friday, March 16, 2018. The 2019-2020 school year will begin in a new state-of-the-art facility custom made to accommodate the unique spaces of this arts-based charter school.
Beginning with a campus master plan, the historic Sanbusco Market Center in Santa Fe’s Railyard District will be transformed into an urban campus. The design includes studios and practice space for the school’s dance, music, theater, and visual arts programs. It will allow NMSA to accept an additional 150 students and double the capacity of their Residential Program.
Our team, led by project manager Steve Osborn, is thrilled to be part of such a progressive academic project. The student talent that was showcased at the ground breaking ceremony is a testament to the quality of education and training received at NMSA.
