This city owned renovation and addition project provided much needed space to the Fire Training Academy and created an official location for emergency information sharing. The new facilities house a number of multi-use classrooms, a Tactical Training Simulator, wellness/workout space, and additional fire administration offices. It also includes a Joint Information Center that provides space for press conferences and collaborate city efforts in emergency situations. The new build is located between the existing training facility and the driver training apron, near the Training Tower, creating a solid facility that handles the city’s needs on numerous levels. Although the site is located on an area with relatively steep grading, which presented a few design and planning challenges, Studio SW worked closely with the Deputy Chief to ensure user efficiency of this LEED certified building.
