Originally the first large Hilton Hotel in the nation, the historic Hotel Andaluz in Downtown Albuquerque was built in 1939. Renovations were completed in 2009.
Studio Southwest Architects was responsible for the interior design of the lower two stories and basement support space including the Lucia restaurant, lobby, Ibiza bar and terrace, and the meeting and banquet rooms. Most interior color and material selections were coordinated by the firm. The design features a distinct motif with a Moroccan/Spanish revival flavor. The motif utilizes the existing historic features and incorporates details, colors, fabrics, and textures of the Moroccan experience. The result is a highly themed, visually rich experience. The mezzanine incorporates a Cultural Center which tells the story of New Mexico’s cultures and history using electronic, interactive kiosks.
