Regional Transportation Management Center

Albuquerque, New Mexico

The Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC), designed under contract with Parson Brinckerhoff, is a multi-agency administrative center housing public safety and transportation departments from the City of Albuquerque, the New Mexico Department of Transportation, and Bernalillo County. Representatives from the City of Rio Rancho and the NM Department of Public Safety participated in the design process and may occupy space in the building sometime in the future.

Plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and information technology systems throughout the 55,000 sf building were replaced as part of the initial phase of construction. Approximately 34,000 sf of the first floor was remodeled for office, meeting, training, and support space. All spaces were upgraded for accessibility. The heart of the building is the Operations Room and Incident Room for monitoring transportation systems and responding to events throughout the metropolitan area. The building and surrounding property was transferred to the City of Albuquerque several years ago. Adjacent buildings have been occupied by the Albuquerque Police Department.
