The kiva-inspired central lobby, with its vaulted skylight and spectacular view of the Sandia Mountains, is a major design focus for this 40,000 sf Judicial Complex. It serves court administration services, the court clerk and the sheriff’s office, which is isolated from the courts activities and features evidence storage, interview rooms, training/community space and secure parking.

The lobby creates an organization for visitors, providing separate entries for each of the agencies housed in the complex: grade court, drug court, juvenile and adult probation and a District Attorney Office. The stacked sandstone, shading portals and territorial style trim complement the surrounding environment and create a strong presence for the Sandoval Judicial Department.
